Working at AMD — In Their Own Words
Here's your chance to learn what it's like to work here. Meet some of the talented members of our global team and find out how they feel about AMD.
"I joined AMD when the company was only ten years old. At that point, I just wanted to be able to learn and grow with a company. That's exactly what I've been able to do here.
For 20 years now, I've grown both personally and professionally by working alongside some of the most enthusiastic people I've ever met. Just to watch these people everyday keeps me moving forward. They drive me to contribute as much as I can. And because teamwork is so important to AMD, I drive them to succeed, as well. We're always working together.
The feeling within AMD is unique, indeed. It's an exciting, fast-paced time for all of us. You can really feel what makes us different. You can feel that people really do come first here."
"The nature of my job-ensuring that all personnel are safe-gives me a pretty interesting look at AMD. I'm always on the move, from area to area, so I constantly get an opportunity to interact with all sorts of people. I've found that this company is really made up of a bunch of nice people. Competitive, driven people who enjoy contributing outside of work just as much as they do inside of work.
AMD really believes in community service. It's a genuine priority that rubs off on employees. For example, by volunteering through work for a local festival a while back, I rediscovered my love of community service. Today, I'm the editor for a couple different community-based newsletters. That and playing in a local funk band help to fill my free time."
"I joined AMD for two reasons. Because it had a good reputation with respect to products. And because of the 'people first' principle. What I like the most about working here is that I always get to work on what I truly enjoy.
My job is to lead a group of highly motivated and talented Product Engineers who are developing state-of-the-art technology, as well as innovative new products. It's pretty easy to see why I enjoy it so much. We have a great time contributing as a team, striving to make the Product Development group the best there is."
"I joined AMD right out of college. And even after 8 years, I'm continually surprised at the amount of support that I receive on each project.
It's pretty amazing to think that, even as I've progressed from Design Engineer to Senior Design Engineer, the team contribution has remained consistent throughout. Because of that, I've always been able to hone my skills, learn new technical information and see projects through to completion.
Another thing that continues to surprise me is AMD's 'people first' philosophy. It's for real. I have experience of that in the way my supervisor and manager helped me transition from full-time to part-time following my daughter's birth. The schedule change has worked well for me, as it provides more of a chance to be involved in the life of my kids."
"I've always been the type of person who strives to learn something new each day. I think that's what attracted me to AMD, the fact that I could do that here-and have fun in the process.
There's a high level of respect for people throughout the company. That translates to prudent guidance and support from management. Different approaches to a problem, as well as openness to new solutions, are always encouraged. It builds teamwork and promotes a true sense of we're all in this together.' All that makes AMD a fun place to work."
"In my position, I work with product engineers to solve customer issues. The engineers I have worked with are always willing to take time out of their schedule to help explain things to me. I think that basically sums up AMD as a company. It's a positive work environment full of smart, well-rounded people.
Success drives us. And wanting AMD to be successful drives me. Because I can see how our products are helping people live more productive lives, I take great pride in the work. And because AMD was built on a vision that future successes will start from each employee, I take great pride in my contributions here."
