AMD Careers: Opportunities Across the Globe

Sunnyvale, California

Our headquarters are in Sunnyvale, California, located toward the southern end of the San Francisco Bay Area peninsula. This is the heart of Silicon Valley, and like many Silicon Valley companies AMD thrives on the culture of groundbreaking innovation that makes the Bay Area the center of the technology world.

But entrepreneurial culture is only one of many selling points of the Bay Area. The local climate is a nearly perpetual springtime upon which the extremes of summer and winter rarely intrude, and yet summer and winter pleasures are both available within driving distance. Two hours east of Sunnyvale are the Sierra Nevadas — the second-largest mountain chain in North America and home of legendary ski resort Lake Tahoe — and an hour south lies Santa Cruz, where the beaches provide sunlit warmth most of the year.

Head north and you hit San Francisco, with its world-famous historical charm, breathtaking downtown hills, and creative counterculture. And just beyond it, across the Golden Gate Bridge, lie beautiful Marin County and the Napa Valley vineyards.

The following links will help you explore the Bay Area in greater detail:

Austin, Texas

Austin, Texas is a city with a strong and growing reputation as one of the best places to live in the continental United States.

Certainly one reason for this is the forward-looking local economy, which is increasingly driven by the technology sector. Another is the area's weather, which appeals to those who prefer sunshine to snow. Summer is a way of life for about half the year, and brutal winters quickly become a vague memory for many out-of-state residents.

Austin is also home to the University of Texas, one of the nation's largest universities and largest sites of graduate and undergraduate talent in the technology field. Students come from all over the world to study there, and quite often choose to remain in Austin after graduation. Texas has no state income tax, and real estate remains far more affordable than in many other technology centers.

Furthermore, Austin is a haven for creative professionals. Widely known as the "Live Music Capital of the World," and home to the enormous South by Southwest music and film festival every year, Austin is a growing player in the world of filmmaking. Celebrated directors such as Robert Rodriguez and Richard Linklater — Austinites both — have shot movies in the Austin area.

Fort Collins, Colorado

Fort Collins is located in the eastern shadow of Colorado's Rocky Mountains. With a moderate four-season climate and more than 300 days of sunshine per year, Fort Collins is home to a diversity of active lifestyles. The city boasts miles of trails for biking and running — not to mention numerous city parks and open spaces — with exciting mountain activities such as climbing, fishing, hiking and skiing only minutes away.

A large number of specialized, highly skilled professionals call Fort Collins home, as does one of the nation's leading research universities: Colorado State University. The combination of a highly educated community and a breathtaking location — one tailor-made for active people — make Fort Collins an ideal location for AMD's newest design center.

Greater Boston Area, Massachusetts

Boston is that rare city that seems at once historic and modern — a city of limitless promise. It is also home to one of AMD’s greatest resources for innovative ideas: the AMD Boston Design Center. As the co-developers of HyperTransport technology, the engineers at the Boston Design Center are especially qualified to lead innovative companies to market with compelling new products.

Boxborough is a small, thriving community located at just a few miles northwest of Boston. Its excellent school system, high-quality housing, convenient location and historic character make Boxborough a great place in which to live and work. While the community has agricultural roots, Boxborough has also established a place of prominence in the Information Age.

Dresden, Germany

Throughout its history, Dresden has had a reputation as city of industry; today, the city is known for leading-edge manufacturing based on 300mm wafers.
