AMD was a natural choice for me because I’ve always been interested in computers. Every day I am excited to work with experienced and talented engineers and together we help drive the innovation that changes personal computing globally. Since I’ve started with AMD, I’ve been able to ramp up my technical skills very quickly through on-site classes and learning on the job.
I also learned that teamwork is very crucial to the success of any project and I work with a great team of diverse and supportive individuals. I enjoy both the hardware and software aspect of computing and with this position I get experience with both.
AMD has a broad spectrum of opportunities, from logic design to product development to manufacturing to even software development, and the co-op program is a good way to gain skills and learn more about these opportunities and the company culture. During one of my co-op tours, I designed and implemented a tool for analyzing the performance of our award-winning processors. I never knew how important the tool was until I had heard from my mentor that the tool is still being used. It is quite rewarding to know that my contributions made a difference in the development of a product that appears on store shelves all over the world!
AMD is a great place to work with great benefits. There is a lot of spirit flowing through the company and it has a nurturing, family feel. The company really does care about its customers and employees and I’m proud to say that I work for a world-class company and contribute to its success.

It cannot get better than this in anybody’s career! I came from the co-op route; I had an opportunity to work with the program management team as a co-op. It was a great way for me to evaluate this company. I gained valuable experience working on real time projects and facing big customers in person. It really helped me to make the right decision regarding a full-time position against competing offers.
My profile at AMD includes working on Industrial Engineering concepts implementation throughout AMD. This gives me vast opportunity to use IE tools in manufacturing as well as on the business side. It also gives me exposure to AMD’s work culture and different business processes. It is exciting and challenging for me to think through the concepts studied at school and to apply them to a real-life problem.
I feel proud to be part of a company that practices an ethical way of doing business and is always focused on customer centric innovation.

I was hired through AMD’s college recruitment teams. I was a board member at my college’s chapter of SWE (Society of Women Engineers) and the AMD recruitment team contacted our society about a campus visit. I found myself speaking to one of the recruitment team members in software integration, which is exactly what I wanted to do. He took my resume back with him to AMD and soon I was on a plane for an interview.
I am so excited to come to Austin and work for AMD. It is exactly what I was looking for. I always thought that this is the kind of company that defines what a computer engineer does, and that’s what made AMD such an attractive company for me. Working here is great, with a relaxed environment that strongly encourages continued learning on the job. People are constantly talking about new ways to do things and helping each other make their work better. I came here not knowing anyone, but everyone has been very welcoming and friendly. I could not ask for more in my first job.

After spending many years in an academic research lab, I was unsure what the industrial research and development environment would entail. I have been delighted to find the extent to which AMD encourages creativity and new ideas. I personally have several science and engineering discussions a day which help cultivate new ideas and further my current projects. Although the problems I work on now are more applied, getting new and exciting results still gives me great satisfaction (and additionally, my results can directly affect a product). My academic background is invaluable in my job as the semiconductor industry continually moves to smaller and more complex devices.
In addition, AMD encourages professional growth by offering a variety of continuing education courses — both technical and business-oriented. Once established, there are career paths you can follow which allow you to guide your career as your interests evolve over time. I have very much enjoyed my employment at AMD and recommend considering AMD for your future.

Austin is extremely active, musical, cultured, laid-back, and low stress, but because of the technology companies there, its business world is also quite fast-paced. AMD is the type of place where you get to live that balance.

Going through the interview process with AMD was by far the smoothest that I have ever experienced. The questions that were asked drove at the same points as in other interviews, but they were much more creative, which allowed for me to be more creative in my answers. That's probably why they're doing so well — the people at AMD are innovative at all levels in all functions.
The location is a clear advantage. Austin is extremely active, musical, cultured, laid-back, and low stress, but because of the technology companies there, its business world is also quite fast-paced. AMD is the type of place where you get to live that balance. You work hard during the day and then you get to go home, relax, and enjoy Austin with your friends and family.
The job itself is exactly what I wanted. Working in the human resources rotational program, I will have the opportunity to apply my business acumen to a number of human capital issues. I had initially shied away from rotational programs, as they usually require that you move with each rotation. However, AMD has provided the best of both worlds: I have been able to rotate through functions, while remaining based in Austin.
